The Canon Entrance

The Canon
Between 1980 and 1988, Infocom produced 35 text adventures. While later years would see more games released under the Infocom label, these are the canonical works for which Infocom is remembered today. From 1980 to ca. 1983, each game was released in a package format unique to that game, such as the flying saucer packaging for Starcross. Beginning in 1984, Infocom standardized its packaging on a grey box format known today, appropriately enough, as the "greybox". And in later years, there were the Solid Gold and Mastertronic releases which featured a new package style. Also in this section you will find scans of the InvisiClues for that game.

Stuffies Entrance

Stuffies
In addition to the "browsie" and "feelies" -- the game-specific manual and other items Infocom included in its packaging -- each game shipped with several "stuffies". Stuffies usualy included a warranty/registration card, a system reference card with installation instructions specific to the computer system for which is was released, an InvisiClues offer, and a catalog of Infocom products. Over the years, these items changed and evolved. We have a good collection here, but are on the lookout for more!

Infocomics Entrance

Infocomics
As computer hardware evolved, Infocom came under increasing pressure to include graphics in its games. In response to the pressure, in the middle '80s, in conjunction with Tom Snyder (yes, that Tom Snyder) Productions, Infocom produced several "InfoComics", interactive comic books. Though fairly inovative in their day, customer response was lukewarm, and the plug was pulled after only four releases.

Other Entrance

Other Stuff
Fooblitzky, Cornerstone and ZUG -- the Zork Users Group. A potpourri of Infocom-related thingies that don't fit elsewhere. Of particular interest here are the ZUG items, including early game maps for the Zorks and Deadline.
